The Evolution of Beauty

Have you ever asked yourself what is beauty???? In recent months this has been one of the questions I have consistenetly asked myself due to realizing for many years I have struggled with low self-esteem. I realized I struggled with low self-esteem due to society's standards of beauty, things people have said to me, and about me (family and friends), and how men have treated me.
Society's standards of beauty for a woman are so harsh to the point that women feel like they are not beautiful or less than a woman if they do not meet those standards. Society tells a woman she needs straight or relaxed hair, she needs to shave because it's lady like, she needs to be a certain size, and society is even bias towards certain skin complexions. Down through the years I have had men to tell me that I am pretty for a dark skin girl, and I even had a man who tried to date me, but when I didn't want him, he told me I was not his type because I wasn't light skinned with naturlly curly hair!!! Really dude!!!! Now when I see this man he's engaged to an Asian girl who looks like she has been through many hardships in life!!!

I have been told that I need a relaxer because my hair is too nappy!!!! Really people!!! Why is it that we as black women aren't  taught to love who we are??? My hair, skin complexion, looks, and my educaiton does not define the woman that I am. It amazes me how these stipulations are put on women, but are never put on men!!!! Ladies, we are beautiful regardless to society's standards. Relaxers, perms, make-up, botox, shaving, waxing, contouring, and so on does not define our beauty. I do not have a problem with any of these beauty regimens, but I do have a problem with women making these things a priority in defining what beauty is. If a woman chooses not to do these thing, it does not make her less than a woman!!! Beauty is defined by who you are (character), not what you are!!! Ladies you are beautiful no matter what they say (society)!!! Don't be afraid to rock that natural you!!! It's okay to rock your beauty regimen, but don't let it define you!!!!!

Fringe and more fringe!!!!!

                                                        This fashionista slayed!!!!!!

What can we sa about fringe??? Fringe is a staple piece in fashion that was originated by Native Americans, which served as a type of gutter that repelled rainwaterfrom the wearer. Fringe really became popular in the 1960's by the hippie movement (encyclopedia.com).
Fringe is one of fashion's staple pieces! You can never go wrong wearing fringe, you see fringe in all of the fashion magazines, fashion runways, stores, and on everday people.

I must say this fashionista slayed these fringe pants purchased from Whit Michelle Boutique! The fringe on these pants are like no other that I have seen. The fringe are the focal point of these pants that will have people looking at you saying those are some cute pants!!!! These are some skinny leg pants with a fringe overlay over the pants, the ants are a polyester rayon blend. The fringe pants are made on a MC Hammer style pants from back in the day and do run a little big ladies. Who will be the next fashionista to sla these pants?

Whit Michelle Styles Black, White, and Red!

What is fashion with out black, white and red??!!!! Black and white will always be classic colors that you can wear anywhere, whether it be on an interview, to church, or to a social event. You never have to worry about what color to put with black and white because everything compliments black and white. If I must be a little bias, red always looks the best with black and white. Once you add red to a black and white outfit, it just makes the outfit pop, and it brings so much attention to you and your outfit. Adding red to your outfit will surely turn heads wherever you may be!!!!!

This ruffle black and white polka dot dress with a dash of red was one of my vintage store finds. The material of this dress is 100% polyester so it can be washed right at home, and there is no need to take it to the cleaners!!! This dress is a style from the mid 80's to the early 90's. I purchased this dress from the vintage shop FOUND located in Memphis, Tn on broad Ave. Guess what fashionistas??!!!! I only paid $10 for this dress!!! This was a great deal!!! My shoes came from the one and only Whit Michelle Boutique!!!! These shoes are coated in red rhine stones!!! These shoes can be purchased on my website at www.whitmichelleboutique.com

Thanks for reading my blog!!!!
