Whit Michelle’s favorite Summer moments

I’ve had some really great moments in my city #Memphis!!! I’ve gotten a chance to experience new restaurants in Memphis, attend one of my sweet friend’s wedding, and attend another friend’s very first food festival #butcherboardfestival!!! 

This Summer has also brought the unthinkable! About two weeks ago I lost one of my older cousins to suicide. I can honestly say this has left me mentally unstable. My heart is broken. I have asked myself, "what could we have done, why hadn’t I seen him in such a longtime, and what was bothering him so bad that led him to take his own life?"

Death is never easy, but suicide is definitely not easy to deal with! It is so important to have a relationship with Jesus, and to seek counseling when you are battling with mental illness. I will be transparent enough to say, I too have dealt with depression, but because of my relationship with Christ, my Pastor interceding for me, God sustained me!!!! To God Be the glory!!!!

Butcher Board Festival

I’m in love with all things food related. I am so excited about the Butcher Board festival that will be taking place here in the great city of Memphis, Tn! Memphis has a very rich food culture, and the Butcher Board Festival will highlight some of Memphis’s great chefs, and foods that will leave a satisfying taste to your taste buds!!!  The Butcher Board Festival will take place on July 22, 2018 at the South Main Market. Some of the featured vendors will include: City Block Salumeria, they will provide us with some great quality meats. Rizzo’s Diner and Riverside 1884 Artisanal Foods are just a few of the vendors who will be featured at the Butcher Board Festival. 

I must say, I can’t wait to indulge in all of the food that will be provided at the festival. I love to eat, and this will be the perfect festival for foodies like myself. Please don’t just hear about this event, but please be apart of this wonderful food festival. This festival will bring income to fellow entrepreneurs, our local economy, and great publicity to our city!!!!!!

Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King

We all know Dr. King for his infamous Mountain Top speech, this speech has been recited in our churches (The Black Church), and at Black History programs in our schools. We also know Dr. King as one of the greatest Civil Rights leaders to ever walk the face of this earth.  

Here is some of the video footage and pictures I was able to capture during my experience of the #MLK50 celebrations in my city, where Dr. King was assassinated, Memphis, Tn.I must say that after all the Black History programs I’ve attended, and all of the speeches I’ve heard made about Dr. King, were not as sentimental for me as the events I witnessed during the #MLK50 celebrations. 

To hear people like Rev. Jesse Jackson speak of his experiences with Dr. King during the civil rights era made me realize that I must do more for my generation and my community in order to see change.

I also participated in the I AM A MAN march, this was a wonderful experience because I’ve never participated in a march before. I got to experience what Dr. King and other civil rights leaders did in the 1960’s so that we (Blacks) could have the same rights as (Whites). 

We as people, I mean Black, Hispanic, Whites, and etc, must come together and see one another as human beings and not for the color of our skin. We are all God's people and He has no perspective person. Let’s get ready to turn our dreams into realities!!!! We need each other!!!

Brunching in Memphis

On last weekend, my family and I decided to do brunch at a local restaurant in our city called Best Friends Grill! 

I must say this was one of the best brunch experiences I’ve had in my city. Brunch at Best Friends Grill is provided on the weekends. They provide a four course meal. I started off with an omelette, that consisted of turkey sausage, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and shredded cheese.

Next, I had French toast, catfish, and asparagus. The food was superb. There are other options to choose from such as lamb pops, chicken and waffles, pancakes, and russet potatoes. Can you believe the chicken and waffles are apart of the second course meal; and then you still choose between garlic herb chicken, catfish or lamb pops as your third course meal.

Breakfast at Sunrise (Memphis)

As a foodie I am always looking for a new place in my city to grab breakfast, lunch and dinner! I frequent a local restaurant in my city for breakfast called Sunrise! 




Every time I take a visit to Sunrise, I get the exact items on each visit. I always purchase The Rocky Mountain Omelette, a Buttermilk pancake, and a cup of Joe! On my last visit, I substituted the ham for chicken because the ham is too salty. I must say this local restaurant has is by far one of the best places for breakfast. The omelettes are large in size, and good to your tummy! The buttermilk pancakes remind you of Mom and Grandma’s pancakes on a Saturday morning. I’ve also tried the cheddar grits and they were pretty good, I think they just needed a little salt added to them. The bacon is delicious!!The price range is a moderate price range. I’m not a big breakfast person, but this place makes me want to pay a visit everyday! Sunrise is opened everyday from 5A.M. to 3P.M.. Sunrise is located in the downtown Memphis area, 670 Jefferson Ave.

For the love of Ruffles

Ruffles can be dated back to the Renaissance era. Ruffles add so much detail to a blouse and a dress. As a child I hated when my mother would buy me blouses that had ruffles, I thought they were for “old ladies!”
Now that I am older, I can’t get enough of ruffles! Ruffles really enhance an outfit, and they can turn a simple outfit into a red carpet outfit that will have everyone asking, “where did you get that outfit?”
